Common Gas Cooker Problems and How To Fix Them

Like any other appliance, gas cookers may encounter some problems from time to time. Here are some common problems and practical solutions on how to fix them:

PROBLEM 1: “my gas cooker has failed to ignite”

SOLUTION

  • Check if the gas supply is turned on
  • Ensure the ignition switch is clean and free from debris 
  • Check to be sure the connection between the gas cylinder’s host and the cooker itself is right.
  • If it continues then it may be a faulty switch or the gas cylinder needs reconnection. 

PROBLEM 2: “I’m stressed, my gas has an uneven flame” 

SOLUTION

  • Check if the burner caps and bases are correctly aligned
  • Clean any clogged burner holes using a small brush or pin
  • If this continue then it may be an issue with the gas pressure regulator. You’d need professional assistance 


PROBLEM 3: “I just walked in, I think there’s a gas leak. I can perceive a strong gas odor”


SOLUTION:

  • First and immediately, turn off the gas supply 
  • Open the windows for ventilation 
  • Do no turn on any light switch, torch light, or open flames 
  • Reach out to a gas technician to check the leak
